A remake within a remake

Knowing comedy actors Paul Rudd and Jack Black are co-starring is likely a good sign for any movie. Especially, when that movie is meta comedy/horror, headed by writer/director Tom Gormican, the same talent who delivered the very enjoyable The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.
Thanks to Sony Pictures dropping a new trailer, we've now got our first real look at the studio's new Anaconda movie. Check out the corny comedy homage to the original with a trailer that looks like we could be in for a terribly funny time come Christmas.
Doug (Jack Black) and Griff (Paul Rudd) have been best friends since they were kids, and have always dreamed of remaking their all-time favourite movie: the cinematic "classic" Anaconda. When a midlife crisis pushes them to finally go for it, they head deep into the Amazon to start filming. But things get real when an actual giant anaconda appears, turning their comically chaotic movie set into a deadly situation. The movie they’re dying to make? It might just get them killed.
The new movie looks set to be a meta reimagining as friends (Rudd and Black) set out to make their own remake of their favourite movie, the 1997 Anaconda. Pretty quickly, chaos ensues as they lose their snake and need to trek off into the wilderness to find a new one, only to stumble across a bigger snake than they bargained for.
The trailer gives us a good look at the film's tone and action, with the killer snake ripping bodies and Black in fine form. Hopefully, the finished film will be just as good as it looks.
Anaconda is set to release this Christmas.
